A couple of things

I have published a piece on the CIPS blog about the IMF’s decision to change its rules so that Ukraine does not have to repay its $3 billion debt to Russia. You can read it here.

Also, I did an interview in my shaky Russian this morning via Skype with Sergei Veselovskii of News Front. You can watch it below. Next time I do a Skype interview, I will try not to bob my head so much!

  1. I’m conflicted about this. On the one hand, I really like it that the facade the west has so carefully constructed (the law, the justice, the human rights, all that bullshit) is falling off and the ravenous snarl comes out for everyone to see. Or at least I hope every can see it; there has to be a point where hypocrisy becomes so evident that it should simply become embarrassing (or am I wrong?). I would really prefer to see honest, open power-play.

But on the other hand, the apparent catastrophic failure of all the mechanisms of international rules and diplomacy seems a bit too reminiscent of the immediate pre-WWII years…

  2. If China demanded gold for it’s labor and Russia demanded it for it’s resources this whole lunatic “financialized economy ” would collapse.
