Friday object lesson #47: Lenin badge

Apropos of nothing in particular, this week’s object is a Lenin badge that I bought in the Soviet Union back in 1987.

  1. I was told the way to tell an authentic badge from a post-Soviet replica was that the price was stamped on the back of the badge (in kopecks!). But it strikes me that they’d have thought of duplicating this too….

      1. That sounds about right. I have one that costs 15 kopecks. It is similar to yours, but there is a red ribbon behind the gold medallion, instead of plain red background. The ribbon makes it worth the extra 5 kopecks.
